The sun slid somewhere out in the middle
and the sky, like a heavenly rib cage opened for us
moving you and i closer
to that warm knowing
and i want us outside
wid all them who can see
cause your love, i do not enjoy in secret
and we are queer-
because this society is cold
and dull and not meant for such frolicking,
sweet nectar, or browness
i don’t remember a time before buildings and guns-
us choking on paper work. . .
but I do remember love.
i know love
and that is partially because I know you.
